Client overview

A large-scale 3PL firm managing global supply chains for major retailers expanded across four continents, but its data architecture failed to keep pace. The firm operated a patchwork of regional ERPs, proprietary tracking software, and Excel spreadsheets used by local operations teams — making true control-tower visibility impossible.

Business challenge

Restore the control-tower visibility promised to enterprise clients. Regional operations teams could not see upstream or downstream cargo status, creating black-hole periods during international transit; the central office relied on manual weekly data aggregation that was stale by publication; and when disruptions like port delays or customs holds occurred, there was no unified data to model the impact — teams depended on fragmented, anecdotal communication.

Approach

We shifted focus from data collection to operational intelligence with a unified architecture serving as a single source of truth. A global data dictionary standardized metrics across regions; we architected a cloud-native lakehouse ingesting from regional ERPs, real-time IoT fleet telematics, and external customs APIs; and we built a centralized control-tower dashboard layer with automated delay alerts and what-if disruption simulation.

Business impact

The executive team now monitors global shipment status in near real-time, eliminating stale weekly roll-ups. The time between a disruption occurring and a mitigation strategy being implemented fell by more than half. The firm leveraged the platform to give customers high-fidelity real-time tracking, strengthening its premium 3PL market position, and regional offices now operate on a unified metric set that enables cross-geography performance comparison.
